Education

For indigenous communities like the Aetas from the mountains of Tarlac, education has always been difficult to access.

The remoteness of these communities makes it difficult for students to attend school, with some walking for up to 8 hours regularly just to learn.

The lack of reliable technology and internet access are also considerable hindrances to learning.

Project Liwanag aims to help the holistic empowerment and development of the Aeta community, with the education aspect being an important part of its vision.

We support the education of students, ranging from elementary all the way to the college level, from different Aeta mountain communities in Tarlac.

The students are provided with free food and accommodation in the Holy Spirit Aeta Mission (HSAM) dormitory, which is managed by the missionary sisters.

As a partner of the HSAM, Labay-Ku, and PAGMIMIHA Aeta Federations, Project Liwanag helps finance and assists in the improvement of facilities and the different programs for the students.

Currently, we are working to improve the dormitory facilities and continuously sustain the education of our Aeta scholars.
